Michael Quinlan

We are pleased to introduce Michael Quinlan PhD Fellow of Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, emeritus professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney with a global reputation in occupational health and safety (OHS) research and research on industrial relations history including worker mobilisation.

Professor Quinlan’s recent publications include :

1. Contesting Inequality and Worker Mobilisation: Australia 1851-1880 (Routledge, New York 2020)

2. (with Hamish Maxwell-Stewart) Unfree Workers: Insubordination and Resistance in Convict Australia 1788-1860 (Palgrave McMillan London 2020).

Other publications include Ten Pathways to Death and Disaster: Learning from Fatal Incidents in Mines and Other High Hazard Workplaces, Federation Press, Sydney, 2014 which has proved influential with industry, government and unions.
